For Every Building on the Sunset Strip
, Ed Ruscha mounted a motorized Nikon on the bed of a truck, then drove the length of the boulevard in both directions, photographing every building he passed. Stringing the images together in an accordion book captioned with street numbers, he created a vision of Los Angeles aptly grounded in the logic of traffic and real estate.
